Trade flows via Tallinn port grow 16% to 36,65m tons in 2010
Cargo throughput of the port of Tallinn (Estonia) in Jan-Dec, 2010 totaled 36,649,500 tons, up 16% from the same period a year earlier, the Port Authority press release said. The port's container traffic during the period also increased by 16% - to 151,969 TEUs.
In the reporting period the port’s stevedores handled 25,730,700 tons of liquid bulk cargo (+11.9% YOY), 5,517,000 tons of dry bulk cargo (+24.8%) and 3,533,100 tons of Ro-Ro cargo (+32.6%).
There was a slight increase in the number of calls (including cargo and passenger ships) in 2010 - by 0.5% to 7,274 vessels.
Port of Tallinn is rated the third largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five harbors: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2009, cargo throughput of the port totaled 31,597,000 tons.
