Throughput of Vostochny Port (excluding Kozmino) up 7% to 20,34m tons
Freight traffic via Vostochny port (Russia’s Primorsky Territory) in the calendar year 2010 grew by 7% compared with 2009’s figures to 20.34 million tons, PortNews reports citing the Vostochny Port Authority.
The handled volume in the reporting period includes shipments of coal, coke (charge and hard coal) that increased by 3.1% to 16,31 million tons. The volume of mineral fertilizers rose by 6.4% to 851,500 tons, of petroleum products - by 4.7%, to 523,800 tons. Port's container throughput soared by 59% to 254,330 TEUs.
Vostochny (East) Port is the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The port operates 19 berths (4.7km long, depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 meters). The port’s portfolio of assets includes a largest container terminal, a coal terminal and developed warehousing facilities. The Vostochny Port handles chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and lumber. Its deep waters allow 150-dwt vessels to dock at the port. In 2009, Vostochny Port’s cargo throughput was down 8.14% y-o-y, to 18,941,100 tons.
