Transgarant posts strong results for 2010
Transgarant Group’s volume of rail traffic boosted by 28% year-over-year, to 24,6 million tons, the Group’s press service reported. The company’s total cargo throughput soared in the 12-month period by 45% yoy, to 35.3 billion ton/km.
The growth trend was fueled primarily by increased volumes (to 85%) of first class freight tariff cargoes and containerized cargo, Transgarant said.
In the reporting period the company transported 11,6 million tons of coal, a 49 percent surge from a year earlier, 5,7 million tons of iron ore (+11%), 1,7 million tons of lime (+53%), 1,3 million tons of crushed stone (+ 75%).
In 2010 the company was focused on transportation of coal, which maid up nearly half of the total volume carried by Transgarant. Transportation of iron ore is concentrated in Ukraine, where the company serves enterprises of local metallurgical industry. There was also an increase in the construction materials transportation from Voronezh and the Urals regions and to Moscow region, the company said.
Container traffic totaled 112,800 TEUs, a year-over-year 82% jump. In 2010 Transgarant continued to develop its retail domestic service launched a year earlier. The company noted a growth in import / export containers flow, largely pulp and paper, chemicals and the cargo intended for Russia’s northern regions.
