Transshipment of bulk cargoes grew by 17.5% y-o-y to 9 million 24,7 thousand tons, including ore - by 3.2% to 645.7 thousand tons, the volume of mineral fertilizer increased by 36% to 6,072,500 tons. Shipments of coal and coke through the port’s terminals dropped by 11.6% from a year earlier, to 2 million 183.2 thousand tons.
The volume of general cargo increased by 10% to 12,823,100 tons, including break bulk - by 21.3% to 862,000 tons. Shipment of refrigerated cargoes declined during the year by 4.8% to 2,621,800 tons. Throughput of ferrous metals grew 11.6% to 4,522,500 tons. Volumes of nonferrous metals amounted to 1,640,700 tons.
The port’s stevedores handled 16,328,100 tons of liquid bulk cargo, up 2.5% from 2009’s figure, including petroleum products – 16, 287,900 tons.
Ferry service carried 451,400 tons of goods, a year-over-year increase of 1.6 times.
The Port of St. Petersburg is located on the islands of the delta of the Neva river, in the Neva Bay, the eastern tip of the Gulf of Finland. The Big Port of St. Petersburg encompasses territories of the Neva River delta and the Neva Bay, Kronstadt and dam structures. The Port of St. Petersburg operates a fleet of icebreakers escorting cargo ships during winter navigation. Currently, there are 30 stevedoring company operating in the port.
