As of 8:00am (MT), March 5th, there are 63 cargo ships waiting for assistance of icebreakers in the eastern Gulf of Finland, the Port Authority of Big Port St. Petersburg said.
The St. Pb PA reports of total 89 merchant ships currently located in the water area, 11 of them - in motion. 15 vessels are expecting arrival at the port. Over the past day 3 ships reached the entrance buoy of St Pb port. Four ships are now westbound from the Gulf area, 4 vessels - have arrived at and 14 departed from the port of St. Petersburg.
At least 7 vessels at the regional ports are subject to ice restrictions, 3 of them - in St. Petersburg, 2 - in Viborg, 1 - in Vysotsk and 1 – in Ust-Luga.
