FER’s Q1 boxes volume soars 50% to 49,000 units

The volume of containers moved by Far Eastern Railroad, FER (a subsidiary of Russian Railways) in the I quarter of 2011 increased by 50% from Q1, 2010, to 49,000 units, the company’s press office said. The three-month boxes volume includes 45,500 large-capacity containers, up 57% over the same period of last year.

In the reporting period the average daily volume of container traffic totaled 9,3 million tons (a 57-percent increase from Q1, 2010). The container average weight was more than 17 tons.

In March 2011, the operator loaded 19,700 containers (+48% compared with the same period of 2010), including 17.5 million of large containers (+57%). Average daily traffic volume amounted to 10,600 tons (+57%).

Far Eastern railroad runs through Khabarovsk Territory, Primorsky Territory, Yakutia, Amur and Sakhalin Regions and Jewish Autonomous Region. The company’s office is based in Khabarovsk, Russia.
