Latvia ports throughput grows 13.7 percent in Q3

Cargo traffic at the ports of Latvia in the third quarter of 2011 totaled 16.6 million tons, up 13.7% over the same period of last year, Baltic Course reports citing the country’s statistics service.

During the reporting period, the volume of oil products loaded to tankers increased by 16.9 percent as compared to last year’s figure, to 4.9 million tons, of coal – by 43.7 percent to 4.8 million tons.

Cargo throughput of Free Port of Riga in the third quarter rose 7.8% to 8.4 million tons,  of Ventspils port - by 26.4% to 6.7 million tons, of Liepaja port – by 6.7% to 1.2 million tons.
