Cargo traffic at JSC Vostochny Port's terminals in January-October 2011 grew by 12% compared with the same period of 2010, to 13,958,400 tons, the company said Wednesday.
In October, the stevedore handled 1,293,000 tons of different cargoes, down 11 percent from last year's figure.
Coal exports from Specialized Coal Terminal (PPC-3) rose by 13% to 11,423,700 tons. In October, the terminal handled 1,077,400 of coal products (-9%).
Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) for 10 recent months handled 2,534,600 tons of various cargoes (+7%). In October, the facility transshipped 215,700 tons (-20%).
Vostochny Port JSC is the major stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating at the port of Vostochny, the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. In 2010, the stevedore handled 14,700,3 tons (+1%), while Universal Terminal’s throughput rose by 21% year-over-year to 2,802,600 tons.
