Transpacific rates rise for first time since September

Transpacific spot rates edged up this week from their 22-month low reached last week, the first uptick for two months, according to Drewry Shipping Consultants.
The Drewry benchmark rate for container shipments from Hong Kong to Los Angeles increased by 4.3 percent this week to $1,543 per fey this week from $1,478 per feu last week.?However, on the Asia-Europe trade lane spot rates for containers heading to North Europe fell to $677 per teu in the week ended October 21, down 2.9 percent from the week before and $870 or 56.2 percent less than a year ago.
