Throughput of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (SCPI) in January-October of 2011 fell 11.8 percent from a year earlier, to 10,099,000 tons, the state-owned company said.
In October, handling of cargo rose by 2 percent as compared with September numbers, to 1,120,000 tons.
Shipments of liquid bulk cargo soared 80 percent month-on-month, general cargo volume rose by 22.6%. Handling of metal surged by 84 percent, of iron – by 42 percent, of vehicles – by 37%, of edible oil - by 78%, of oil meal – by 75%. The company reported a 35 percent decline in the segment of bulk cargo due to reduced grain exports.
In October, Port of Ilyichevsk handled 184 vessels and 14,140 railcars.
State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Port of Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export flows of over 30 million tons a year. In 2010, cargo throughput of the port fell by 7.5% year-over-year, to 15,55m tons.
