Volga Shipping retrains its navigators

Volga Shipping Company is implementing a program for training captains and chief officers, which includes a course on modern navigational training simulator NTPro 5000, designed to train navigators of cargo and passenger vessels. So far, 84 employees have passed the refresher course.

The first certifications were handed to 21 captains of RSD 44 project cargo ships - new serial vessels being under construction at Okskaya Shipyard Oka (Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod region). To ensure safe navigation on the Neva River four pilots of Volga-Baltic Canal were certified at the center.

Besides, 63 masters of passenger ships of Volga Shipping have successfully passed the refresher course.

The retraining program worth RUB 420,000 is implemented in connection with the installation of new navigation equipment on board cargo and passenger ships owned by Volga Shipping, in accordance with international and national safety requirements.

As part of the learning skills of skippers receive radar plotting a course on electronic sea and river cards, learn to use the automatic radar plotting the vessel, master techniques of maneuvering and control vessels.

Next year, masters and mates of cargo ships of Volga-Don max cargo ships and pusher-tugs will pass the refresher course.

Navigational simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 (NTPRO 5000), which enables simulator training and certification of watch officers, chief officers, captains and pilots, was manufactured and tailored to the needs of Volga Shipping by Transas Group.
