Diesel-powered icebreaker contracts to be signed this December

The contract for construction of diesel-powered icebreakers will most likely be signed in December of 2011, Transport Ministry official said Wednesday.

The contract will be signed between United Shipbuilding Corporation and Rosatom Corp., Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky said in an interview with journalists.

USC should provide a list of its shipbuilding yards that will be performing the orders. The official noted that the Ministry considers Baltic Shipyard as a privileged contractor.

Commenting on the ruling of Moscow Arbitration Court of Appeal invalidating the transfer of Baltic Shipyard to the management of USC Mr. Olersky said that the icebreaker contracts in any case will be concluded with the Corp.
