Hunan river port starts direct links with Keelung
Chenglingji, a river port in central China's Hunan province, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement and established friendly port ties with Taiwan's Keelung Port, according to local news reports.
Chenglingji is the only port on the main stream on the Yangtze River in Hunan and one of the first ports in China approved to operate direct shipping services to Taiwan. It is also operating direct shipping lanes to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Macau.
Container throughput last year came up to more than 160,000 teus and a cargo tonnage going through the port amounted to 90m tonnes.The port also has fast customs clearance agreements with Shanghai, Wuhan, Changsha and Chongqing for transhipment.
