SMM India on the occasion of the 50th National Maritime Week
SMM India is celebrating with India, and this year it will for the first time be held on the occasion of the 50th National Maritime Week, from 4 to 6 April 2013 in Mumbai. “We look forward to successful cooperation with the organisers of the National Maritime Week, Hamburg Messe Intl. press release said.
This cooperation is something very special for us. Both these events are celebrating a big anniversary. The first SMM was held in Hamburg in 1963, and the first National Maritime Week was held in India in the same year,” says Peter Bergleiter, Business Unit Director at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC). SMM India is one of two foreign subsidiaries of the world’s leading maritime industry, SMM - shipbuilding, machinery & marine technology international trade fair hamburg. SMM India will already be held for the third time in 2013, and is one of the most important maritime trade fairs on the sub-continent.
The National Maritime Week is held for one week in April every year. The culmination of the celebrations is traditionally 5 April, the day when the first Indian ship SS Loyalty sailed from Mumbai to London in 1919. A wide range of events are organised in many port cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Goa.
HMC is organising SMM India at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre in Mumbai together with the Indian partner Inter Ads Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd. SMM India features exhibitors from all parts of the world, presenting their latest technology and product developments for shipbuilding and the marine equipment industry. This trade fair is accompanied by a two-day international conference. “India is undergoing an industrial transformation. The Indian shipbuilding market has enormous growth potential. SMM India is accompanying this process, and giving the international shipbuilding and marine equipment industry outstanding opportunities to enhance its relations with the Indian maritime industry,” says Peter Bergleiter.
