Port of Singapore cargo traffic slides 0.6 percent
Container throughput at the Port of Singapore in January-August 2012 fell 0.6% compared to the same period of 2011, to 357.23 million tons, the Port Authority statistics said.
Crude oil transshipments shrank by 13% to 111.14 million tons, while container traffic rose 6.6% to 21.15 million TEUs.
Singapore is the city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. Container traffic at Port of Singapore in 2011 rose 5.3% year-over-year, to 29.93 million TEUs. Annual cargo throughput at the port totaled 530.48 million tons.
