HHI starts building FSRU for future LNG terminal in Lithuania
The South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries held a steel-cutting ceremony for a floating LNG storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with equipment for the future terminal of liquefied natural gas in Klaipeda, RusEnergy reports. The vessel was ordered by Norwegian Hoegh LNG.
The FSRU delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2014. The shipbuilder will continue steel-cutting and equipment fabrication until March 2013.
The vessel will be handed over to Lithuanian company Klaipedos nafta under a time-charter agreement with Hoegh LNG. The ship will be chartered for 10 year at $189,000 a day ($689m). After the charter period the Lithuanian company may buy out the FSRU and operate her for another 30 years.
