Dredging at Kozmino port completed by 47%
Dredging at Berth Number 2 of the oil port of Kozmino (LLC Spetsmornefteport Kozmino) has been completed by about 47% of the planned volume. So far, over 145,000 cbm of sediments have been dredged, the company said.
The dredging project at Kozmino will enable access to the new berth of 120,00DWT tankers. Works are carried out in line with Spetsmornefteport Kozmino expansion to 30 million tons of oil products a year.
"Increasing capacity of Spetsmornefteport is conducted in accordance with the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline project second phase. One of the main activities at the port’s facilities is the arrangement of Berth No 2 and dredging the waters," the company’s press release said.
Engineering and survey at the site under the contract with Rosmorport started back in 2011. These include geological, environmental, land-surveying and diving survey of the seabed at Berth No 2. Dredging and formation of waters commenced a month ago, to ensure access of 120dwt tankers. The dredging contractor deployed one dredger – Sakhalinets, three floating cranes - Chernomorets-10, Primoretz and Dragflow, four barges and two tugboats.
The scope of work - more than 300,000 cbm of sediments should be dredged. The dredging is scheduled for completion in late December. The waters at the berth will be deepened to 17.5m. The final depth at the facility will be 21 m.
The first tanker is expected to dock at Berth No 2 after commissioning of the ESPO Pipeline Phase 2.
