Moscow Shipyard launches sixth boat of Project MRV14 “Bora” for Rosmorport (photo release)
Moscow Shipyard today held a launching ceremony for the sixth and final boat of Project MRV 14. The vessel named Bora was ordered for Azov-Black Sea branch of Rosmorport and will be homeported in Novorossiysk, the shipbuilding firm said.
Rosmorport placed the order for six multipurpose workboats of Project MRV 14 with United Shipbuilding Corporation’s unit Moscow Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard in 2011. Moscow Shipyard held a steel-cutting ceremony for the first vessel of six boats package in October 2011.
The boat will be utilized for delivery of pilots, crewmembers, and customs and boarder control officers to ships, survey of navigable waterways, participation in rescue operations and for other tasks.
The multipurpose boat of MRV14 project is a modern, powerful, economical, fast and highly maneuverable boat, which is a combination of modern design solutions and innovative shipbuilding technologies. The boat is equipped with advanced Volvo Penta IPS 450 propulsion system.
JSC Moscow Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard (Moscow Shipyard, part of United Shipbuilding Corp.) is one of Russia's oldest shipyards founded in 1936. Throughout the years the shipyard has built more than 1,800 vessels with a total overall length of more than 52,000 meters. The firm specializes in building of river passenger vessels, fishing boats and 25-m / 50-m-long luxury yachts.
In 2002, the shipbuilding company successfully passed the certification of quality management system according to ISO 9001. In September 2011, the shipyard commenced the construction of high-speed multi-purpose boats MRV14 for Russian ports. Since 2011 the company has been building a package of 27 buoy tenders of Project 3050 and 12 tenders of Project 3050.1 for maintenance of navigational aid on Russian inland waterways. Since mid-2012, Moscow Shipyard has been engaged in the construction of boats for the Russian Navy.
