Construction of new container terminal starts in Tilburg
The construction of a new terminal with a capacity of 80,000 TEU on the Wilhelminakanaal in Tilburg has started. The new terminal of the Versteijnen Groep will be in the business park Vossenberg West II, which can grow to a good 100 hectares and is intended mainly for logistics businesses, the Port of Rotterdam news release said.
The terminal, with a surface area of three hectares, will cost more than ten million Euros, a quarter of which will be invested in cranes procurement. The new facility will soon be visited twice daily by ships up to class V with loads up to 100 TEU.
Part of the investment is financed from the ‘quick wins’ scheme for inland shipping. Versteijnen says its expansion caters for the delivery of Maasvlakte 2 from next year.
