Rosneft to start offshore exploration in Okhotsk Sea next year

Rosneft plans to commence geological prospecting on its license blocks in the Okhotsk Sea in 2013, RN-Shelf Far East CEO Lev Brodsky told the conference "Oil and Gas of Sakhalin", PRIME reports.

"We plan for 2013 field works on our new license blocks on the shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk," Brodsky said, adding it includes 2D seismic exploration and environmental impact assessment.

Moscow-headquartered Rosneft is an integrated oil company majority owned by the Russian Government. Rosneft ranks among the world’s top publicly traded oil and gas companies and is engaged in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, petroleum products and petrochemicals, and marketing of outputs. The Russian Government holds a 75.16-percent stake in Rosneft (through OJSC Rosneftegaz), 15% of shares are in free-float.
