Cosco Zhoushan delivers landmark self-developed drilling platform

Cosco Zhoushan shipyard has delivered China’s first self-developed semi-submersible rig Island Innovator on Wednesday, SinoShipNews reports.

Built for Norwegian owner Odfjell Drilling, the Island Innovator semi-submersible rig will be operated in the harsh environment of the North Sea, which requires a high level of maturity in understanding identified design and operation risks.

“Island Innovator is an important breakthrough in both design and construction for China’s deep water drilling platform, and is a milestone in China’s development of high-end offshore products,” said an offshore from Cosco Zhoushan shipyard.
