Cargill gets green light to build Illichivsk grain terminal
Cargill, which had announced its plans to build a grain terminal in state-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk), now can easily implement this project, the port’s stevedore company head Alexander Grigorashenko told Gazette.ru.
"There are currently no obstacles for the implementation of a joint project of Illichivsk port and Cargill. We have offered Cargill company to participate in tender. I think, in mid-October, we will hold a joint meeting with the Ministry of Infrastructure (of Ukraine) and the mayor of Ilyichevsk. In general, we are moving towards signing of Letter of Intent. Then we could speak more specifically," said Grigorashenko.
Cargill is an international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services. Founded in 1865, the privately held company presently employs 140,000 people in 65 countries.
State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable the company to handle 30 mln tons of cargo a year.
