Marine Board OKs Russian ports development strategy (photo release)
The Russian Government’s Marine Board recommends for approval the drafted by Rosmorport Strategy of sea ports infrastructure development until 2030, spokeswoman for Rosmorport Irina Lobkova told PortNews.
The decision was announced at a meeting of the Marine Board on Sept. 28 in Vladivostok, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
In his report, Deputy Minister of Transport Viktor Olersky highlighted the importance of this decision.
According to the Strategy, the total volume of cargo volumes handled at the ports of Russia from 2012 to 2030 will double and exceed one billion tons. This strategy drafters’ estimate is based on the analysis of the major economic trends and plans of major shippers.
The expansion of port capacity (up to 1.4 bn mt) will be accompanied by setting new scheme for selection of investment projects and high standards of service quality.
"The task… can be achieved only by joint efforts of the state and all the participants of the market," said Victor Olersky.
Rosmorport operates in 54 of 63 sea ports of the Russian Federation. The state-owned enterprise is responsible for the safety of navigation in the waters of sea ports and on the approaches to them, the effective utilization of federal property and the development of port infrastructure. The company employs more than 5,700 people in its 16 regional branches.
Rosmorport, ranked among 400 top Russian companies, is included in the list of strategic enterprises and joint stock companies of the country.
Marine Board of the Russian Government is a permanent body providing coordinated actions of the federal and regional executive authorities in the field of maritime activity.
