In January-February 2009, the port of Archangelsk handled 426,164 tonnes of cargo (-36%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Archangelsk Seaport Administration FSA. In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 81,645 tonnes of cargo (+44.7%, year-on-year) including 64,412 tonnes of import cargo (up 2.1 times) 17,232 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-33.4%). Import of containerized cargo 1,824.7 tonnes (-75.4%). Transshipment of import metal amounted to 26,423 tonnes (+94.6%), other general cargo – 36,164 tonnes (up 4.3 times).
Within the framework of incoming coastal trade cargo, transshipment of containerized cargo increased 8.5 times to 4,250 tonnes, other general cargo – by 48.8% to 12,979 tonnes.
In January-February 2009 the port of Archangelsk dispatched 344,519 tonnes of cargo (+24.5%) including 96,217 tonnes of export cargo (-61.1%), 248,301 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-31.5%). Export of containerized cargo amounted to 1,529 tonnes (-79.6%) including 37,055 tonnes of timber (-47.4%) 22,061 tonnes of cellulose (+21.4%) and 2,474 tonnes of cardboard and paper (-67.6%).
Within the framework of outgoing coastal trade cargo, transshipment of crude and oil products amounted to 204,088 tonnes (-36.7%), other general cargo – to 18,032 tonnes (-1.9%), containerized cargo – to 8,703 tonnes (up 2-fold).
