Keppel Land strengthens its Board with new appointments

The Board of Keppel Land Limited (Keppel Land) announces the appointment of Mr Loh Chin Hua (卢振华), Chief Financial Officer and CEO-Designate of Keppel Corporation Limited, as Chairman of its Board with effect from 1 January 2014, the company said in its press release. Mr Loh will resume the position when Mr Choo Chiau Beng steps down from the Board of Keppel Land.

Mr Loh, said, "On behalf of the Board and management, I would like to thank Chiau Beng for his dedication and invaluable contribution as Chairman of Keppel Land. He has contributed significantly to growing the Keppel Land group to become one of Singapore's leading developers with a strong reputation for quality and execution excellence.

"I look forward to working closely with the Board and management to steer Keppel Land to further grow our core businesses in property development and property fund management."

Mr Loh, 52, who is also Chairman of Alpha Investment Partners Limited (Alpha), the real estate fund management arm of Keppel Land, has over 25 years of experience in real estate investing and funds management spanning the US, Europe and Asia. Under his leadership, Alpha has grown its assets under management to over S$10.5 billion today.

Prior to joining Alpha, Mr Loh was Managing Director at Prudential Investment Management Inc. where he led its Asian real estate fund management business. He was responsible for overseeing all investment and asset management activities for the real estate funds managed out of Asia.

Mr Loh started his career in real estate investment with the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC). He has held appointments in the San Francisco office and was head of the European real estate group in London before returning to head the Asian real estate group at GIC.

Mr Loh holds directorship in several companies within the Keppel Group including Keppel Shipyard Limited, Keppel FELS Limited, Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, Keppel Land China Limited, Keppel REIT Management Limited as well as various fund companies and subsidiaries.

Mr Loh was a Colombo Plan Scholar and holds a Bachelor in Property Administration from the Auckland University as well as a Presidential Key Executive MBA from the Pepperdine University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Registered Valuer from the New Zealand Institute of Valuers.

Concurrently, Keppel Land will be appointing Professor Huang Jing (黄靖) as an independent non-Executive Director with effect from 1 January 2014.

Professor Huang, 57, is a Professor and Director of Centre on Asia and Globalisation at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. He has published numerous articles and books on China's politics, development strategy and foreign policy as well as on international relations in Asia Pacific.

He was a Senior Fellow for foreign policy studies at Brookings Institution and Shorenstein Fellow at Stanford University, as well as a Fulbright Professor with the Hong Kong City University. He was also the Director of Asia Studies Program and Associate Professor of Political Science at the Utah State University, and was a Lecturer on Social Studies at Harvard University.

On the new appointment of Professor Huang, Mr Loh, added, "I would like to welcome Professor Huang to the Board. We will gain from rich experience and deep insights into China as we strengthen presence and reputation as a choice international developer in China."

Professor Huang is currently a Residential Fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Centre and was recently named a Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow with Robert Bosch Stiftung. He also serves as a Senior Overseas Economic Analyst for Xinhua News Agency and is an Overseas Adviser to the China Foundation for International and Strategic Studies in Beijing.

Professor Huang is on the Board of Fujitsu-JAIMS Foundation in Japan, the Advisory Board of the Center on China and Globalisation as well as the European-House Ambrosetti. He is also on the Steering Committee of the NUS Research Institute in Suzhou and is part of the Global Agenda Council at the World Economic Forum.

The Board of Keppel Land comprises a total of 12 Directors, of whom nine are independent Directors.
