On June 16, 2009, the Group of Companies Russian Transport Lines (RTL, Moscow) opened a closed warehouse of temporary storage in Novoshakhtinsk (Rostov region). The facility called Southern Transport Lines covers the area of 43,783 sq. m. According to the company’s press release, this warehouse is the first one for Russian automobile logistics of the southern region.
The company also underlines that opening of the automobile terminal in Novoshalhtinsk was the second phase in development of the southern infrastructure project of RTL Group.
The first phase of RTL automobile terminal was opened in July 2008. For a year-long period over 40,000 Chevrolet and Toyota automobiles were accepted and dispatched there. Having started the terminal development from 15 hectares the Group has increased the territory to 50 hectares.
As of today, RTL Group is completing the construction of an office building in Novoshakhtinsk for customs authorities and logistics operator. The area of the building is 800 sq. m.
“This type of development is especially important for implementation of a unified logistics system strategy ensuring direct delivery of automobiles via RF ports to Russian customers,” says The Group’s Director General Konstantin Skovoroda.
Southern Transport Lines terminal boasts a unique geographical location enabling it to accept and handle automobiles delivered from Russian and Ukrainian ports (Iljichevsk, Kavkaz etc.). This terminal meets the requirements of the latest concept on transfer of customs procedures to the state border (recently approved by the RF Federal Customs Service) as it is 30 km from Russia-Ukraine border.

From 2005 RTL works with the leading manufacturers of automobiles under direct contracts holding the leading position at the market of customs clearance. It specializes in search for optimal logistics solutions as regards import of transport, specialized equipment, components and auto plant equipment. In 2006, the first Russian terminal for acceptance of vehicles was opened in St. Petersburg by RTL under partnership with Sea Fishing Port. From 2008, RTL Group operated in the third and the forth districts of the Big Port of St. Petersburg under agreement with Sea Port of Saint Petersburg OJSC. On July 25, 2008, RTL Group opened a terminal in Novoshakhtinsk. In the seaport of St. Petersburg RTL services such brands as Nissan, Peugeot, Citroen, Infiniti, Renault, Ford etc. As of today, the Group implements an investment project on construction of a specialized terminal Novaya Gavan in the Leningrad region. From May 2009, Novaya Gavan is included in the limits of Ust-Luga port by the order of RF Government. In 2009, RTL completed establishment of its own transport company RTL-Auto with the fleet of 100 car carriers.
