Russian Navy's Caspian Flotilla adds new crane vessel VTR79

The Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy has commissioned a new floating crane of VTR-79 series into service, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The VTR-79 on December 1, 2013 joined the Caspian Flotilla fleet after successful state sea trials. The crane ship has been manned and the crew is now preparing for exercises and maintenance of on-board equipment.

The vessel's crane, power plant facilities, its survivability station will undergo checks and receive safety operation approvals and permits by safety control agency Gostekhnadzor.

The military transport vessel with heavy-lift crane "VTR-79" of project 20360 Dubnyak was built at Okskaya Shipyard. The vessel is designed for transportation and handling of weapons and other cargo, as part of Navy's auxiliary fleet. Full displacement - about 2,000 tonnes. Diesel propulsion power - more than 1,000 hp
