Checkpoint at Novatek-UL Terminal Phase 2 gets approvals and permits

The Interdepartmental Commission for conformance inspection of a recently reconstructed marine multi-lane cargo / passenger border crossing checkpoint within the NOVATEK-Ust-Luga Terminal Phase 2, based at Port of Ust-Luga, Russian Border Services Agency (Rosgranitsa) said in press release.

The commission led by deputy chief of the North-West regional Rosgranitsa Konstantin Kalnins held a joint meeting with Transport Ministry, Federal Boarder Guard Service of Russian FSB, regional departments of FTS,  Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor.

The commission found the border-crossing point meets all the safety requirements for construction, equipment of buildings and premises and certified the facility to execute border, customs and other controls. The facility's annual throughput is estimated to be 6 million tonnes of cargo.

On June 19, 2013 NOVATEK launched the first phase complex in Ust-Luga, which includes the system for fractionation of stable gas condensate (SGC) of projected capacity of 3 million tonnes a year, a 520,000cbm product storage depot, an equipped deep-water berth for accommodation of 120DWT tankers, premises, infrastructure networks and treatment facilities. In October the construction and commissioning of the Complex was completed.

The UL Complex allows processing SGC into light and heavy naphtha, kerosene, diesel fraction (gas oil) and heating / marine fuel, and export the products. Currently, the facility processes all SGC produced at Purovsky Plant.

NOVATEK, founded in 1994, is currently the largest independent gas producer and the second-largest natural gas producer in Russia. The Company is focused on prospecting, production and processing of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. As of late 2009, the Company had 6.86bn oil equivalent barrels of proved reserves.  Novatek assets are located in the Yamal-Nenets Region, the world's largest natural gas producing area and accounts for over 90% of Russia's natural gas production and 20% of the world’s gas production.
