Russia's maritime policy focus is Far East region, official says
The Far East region will be a priority in the maritime development strategy of Russia, Russian vice-premier said at the meeting of the Marine Board in Moscow.
Chairman of the Marine Board under the Russian Government and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin commented:"All Russia's prospects in the 21st century are in the Far East".
The official believes the strategy's priority is determined by the proximity of the region to export markets of growing economies of Asia and the Pacific, as well as the restrictions imposed on shipping in Danish straits.
