Working group to develop climate change strategy for Russian segment of Barents region
Representatives of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology have taken part in video conference of the interregional working group on the development of the climate change strategy for Russian segment of the Barents region, Murmansk Region’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology says.
Apart from the Murmansk region, the group includes representatives of the Arkhangelsk region, Nenets autonomous region, Karelia and Komi republics, scientific organizations.
The Action Plan on Climate Change for the Barents Cooperation in 2013-2015 approved at the 11th Conference of Environment Ministers of BEAC (December 2013) provides for cooperation in the development of regional climate change strategies.
Regional climate change strategy is aimed to decrease the vulnerability of the communities to the impacts of the climate change.
