Wagenborg handles 85-tonne Barge Master crane for new 'walk-to-work' vessel

Last week the new ‘walk-to-work’ vessel was launched successfully at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander. During the upcoming weeks this new type of offshore maintenance support vessel will be completed with the missing components, such as the so-called ‘T40’ Barge Master motion compensated crane, Wagenborg said in a press release.

Last weekend the Barge Master motion compensated knuckle boom crane pedestal was transported from the manufacturer in Genemuiden (the Netherlands) to the shipyard in Delfzijl. Wagenborg took care of the transshipment of the crane, weighing 85 tonnes, into an inland vessel with help of mobile cranes. After a smooth trip, the inland vessel moored next to the ‘Walk-to-Work’ vessel, where the Barge Master crane could be lifted directly from the inland vessel into foundation of the Walk-to-Work’ vessel. This lifting project was executed with a 500 tonnes and 700 tonnes mobile crane.

The Barge Master T40 is specially designed for the offshore industry and capable of compensating the roll, pitch and heave motions of an offshore knuckle boom/telescopic boom crane with a capacity of 15mT. The servicing of offshore locations are typical applications of the Barge Master T40. NAM will use this crane for service and maintenance of gas production platforms in the Southern North Sea.
