Vladimir Putin says establishment of priority development areas kicked off in the Far East of Russia

Establishment of the priority development areas has kicked off in the Far East of Russia, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East refers to RF President Vladimir Putin as saying at the plenary session of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs congress in Moscow.

“I would like to add that in the Far East they have already begun creating priority development areas where investors will receive tax benefits, special terms for infrastructure link-up and so forth”, the President said.

“I would like to repeat that greater freedom for businesses is the best response to all external challenges and limitations. Therefore, we will continue creating the most favourable conditions for all who are ready to invest in the national economy and industry, into the development of technologies and the creation of jobs”, he emphasized.

The Law on Priority Development Areas comes into effect on March 30, 2015. First three PDAs were selected by the Sub-Committee on Implementation of Investment Projects in the Far East on February 12, 2015.

Primorsk Territory has applied for the creation of 5 priority development areas: Nadezhdinsky, Mikhailovsky, Ostrov Russky, Zarubino, Petrochemical. The sixth one, to be based on the Far East shipyard Zvezda in Bolshoi Kamen, is being prepared today.

According to earlier statement of Primorsk Territory Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky, at the initial phase, the shipyard will invite specialists from Germany and S.Korea. “However, we are training our own specialists and expect that the staff will contain 60% of the locals with the rest of employees to be attracted from other regions,” he said.
