Monthly throughput of PPA two ports in April reaches 49 million tonnes
Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has delivered a total monthly throughput of 49 million tonnes (Mt) for the month of April, the PPA press release said.
The port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 36Mt, an increase of 0.5Mt or 1% from the same month in 2014. Iron ore exports for the month totalled 35.3Mt an increase of 0.5Mt or 2% from the same month in 2014. Imports totalled 151,000 tonnes, a decrease of 35,000 tonnes or 19% from the previous year.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total monthly throughput of 13.1Mt, a slight decrease of 1.4Mt or 10% from the previous year. Imports totalled 78,000 tonnes, an increase of 24,000 tonnes or 44% from the same month in 2014.
Pilbara Ports Authority was formed on 1 July 2014 through the merger of the Port Hedland Port Authority and the Dampier Port Authority. Pilbara Ports Authority encompasses the Port of Ashburton, the Port of Port Hedland, and the future Ports of Anketell and Cape Preston East. Pilbara Ports Authority is governed under the Port Authorities Act 1999 and operates as a corporatised entity with a board of management that reports to the State Government of Western Australia’s Minister for Transport.
