On Thursday 16 April, Damen held a presentation day in Hamburg to showcase the first ever ASD Tug 2913. Petersen & Alpers, the owner of the ASD 2913, kindly permitted Damen to showcase the vessel. Potential clients from various countries were present in Germany for the event, the shipbuiding group said in a news release.
During the presentation day, delegates were able to visit and sail aboard the vessel, in order to learn about the design philosophy behind the ASD 2913. Additionally, the current features and future developments of the ASD series were discussed. Delegates’ feedback on the ASD 2913 was very positive.
Following the presentation day, on Friday 17 April, the vessel was berthed at her regular location at the tugboat station in Neumühlen, Hamburg and prepared for her naming ceremony.
Petersen & Alpers is a family company and many members of the family were present for the occasion. Following speeches, the vessel was named by the Lady Sponsor, Mrs Anja Lindenau, after which the traditional bottle was released to the sound of applause and Michel’s horn.
After the naming ceremony, Michel demonstrated her manoeuvrability and power on the River Elbe whilst spectators looked on from the balcony of a nearby restaurant.
