Euroports Italy commissions the largest state-of-the-art scrap metal yard in the North Adriatic Sea

Euroports Italy´s Terminal Rinfuse Venezia, who aims to play a leading role in the scrap metal logistics in Marghera, has completed the construction of an exceptional facility to handle scrap metals classified as green waste, the company said in its press release.

The new facility, the largest of its kind in the North Adriatic Sea, consists in a fenced yard area of 4,200 square meters with a maximum storage capacity of 30,000 tons, located in the vicinity of the quay on Molo B. This certified waste management yard is also equipped with a water treatment plant and a mobile system for reducing dust in accordance with the current environmental requirements dictated by the regulations in Europe and Italy.

Furthermore, the terminal offers one of the most competitive draft among the North East Italian Ports with a maximum water depth of -12.0 mts allowing to receive panamax vessels.

The opening of this facility will allow EUROPORTS to serve both imports from America, Northern Europe and Russia and exports to Turkey, India, China. The terminal is ideally connected by truck, rail and barges not only to its primary hinterland in Veneto and Lombardia but also to the secondary one via rail up to Central Europe.

With the implementation of this project, EUROPORTS will increase the range of commodities handled in line with its strategy to grow in the renewables markets.
