A retained ferry hinders a tourist vessel berthing at Hurghada port
The existence of the retained ferry ”ElMuttaheda” for years on Hurghada port’s berth [n the Red Sea has prevented receiving the tourist vessel ”Notika” coming from Sallala Omani port on board of which hundreds of tourists. The vessel informed Hurghada port officials of its arrival but it has been converted to berth at Safaga seaport, as Hurghada quay was occupied with the nonworking “ElMuttaheda” ferry, the company said in its press release.
Navigational port sources has declared that the ferry is there since four years and that it threatens the cancelation of big tourist vessels cruises during this season as the port’s berth does not have capacity for other vessels due to the existence of the ferry in the middle of which.
Sources also added that other three giant tourist vessels of length 320m have announced their arrival at the port this current week and are waiting for an answer whether they have place on the berth or not.
