On May 19, opening ceremony of the jubilee Vth international forum Marine Industry of Russia took place in Gostiny Dvor exhibition hall, Moscow, Krylov Centre reminds. Prominent persons to attend this ceremony were Mr. Sergey Shishkarev, Deputy Head of Marine Board under the Government of the Russian Federation and Head of Business Council of the State Commission on Arctic developments, and Mr. Maksim Kochetkov, newly appointed director of Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Facilities Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
During the visit of VVIP guests to the exhibition, KSRC Director General, Mr. Vladimir Nikitin, made a detailed presentation on the main fields of KSRC activities and on the KSRC developments displayed at the exhibition. In particular, Mr. Shishkarev was genuinely interested in designs of the shallow-water ice-breaker and the Arctic drillship. He was interested to have more details on these designs and expressed a wish to visit KSRC personally to see its developments, including Arctic applications, with his own eyes. Mr. Kochetkov, in his turn, said to Mr. Nikitin that he would begin a series of familiarization visits to Russian shipbuilding enterprises and organizations, and KSRC should be the first point in his itinerary.
KSRC representatives also participated in the business agenda of the forum. Advisor to Director General, Mr. Valery Polovinkin, presented his report Status and prospects of marine mechanical and instrumentation engineering against the backdrop of Western sanctions and ways to mitigate their adverse effect at the session of Scientific & Expert Council of the Marine Board. Besides, Deputy Director General of the KSRC, Mr. Oleg Timofeev, gave his message on the latest developments in geophysical studies regarding offshore hydrocarbons and on the technological issues in development of LNG storage, transportation and processing systems as he took the floor at the session of the Shipbuilding Committee of the Russian Engineering Union and at one of the panel talks held at the Forum.
Mr. Vyacheslav Struev, Deputy Director General of the KSRC, took part in panel talk Construction, reconstruction and safe operation of sea and river ports and waterworks and presented his report Environmental safety challenges for water areas, islands and coasts in the Arctic.
