Pilbara Ports Authority throughput up to 53.4 million tonnes in August 2015

Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has delivered a total monthly throughput of 53.4 million tonnes (Mt) for the month of August, the company said in its press release.
The Port of Port Hedland achieved a record monthly throughput of 39.9Mt, an increase of 5% from the same month in 2014. Iron ore exports for the month totalled 39.1Mt, an increase of 5% from the same month in 2014. Imports totalled 140,000 tonnes, a decrease of 58,000 tonnes or 29% from the previous year. The Port of Dampier delivered a total monthly throughput of 13.5Mt, a decrease of 2.6Mt or 16% from the previous year. Imports totalled 79,000 tonnes, a decrease of 21,000 tonnes or 21% from the same month in 2014.
