Okskaya shipyard launches unique multipurpose bunkering tanker (photo)

Today, on September 17, 2015, Okskaya Sudoverf (Nizhny Novgorod Region) has held a ceremonial launching of the Ecolog, multipurpose bunkering tanker of project 92800 built for Tuapse Commercial Seaport (UCL Holding), the shipyard’s press center says.

The new ship combines the functions of three different vessels: collection of bilge/waste water, bunkering of port fleet and skimming of spilt oil. With the new ship in its port fleet, Tuapse Commercial Seaport will be able to reduce cost of bunkering services, minimize the risk of oil spills during bunkering operations performed by third-party contractors, reduce repair and maintenance expenses, strengthen its position in the market of port fleet services.

The contract with Okskaya shipyard was signed in 2014 under the mid-term programme  for renovation of the company’s fleet in 2012-2015. The delivery was initially scheduled for 2016 but now the ship is supposed to be put into operation as early as in Q4’2015.

The vessel’s major characteristics: length max – 41.3 m, width – 8 m, cargo tanks’ capacity 400 cbm, speed – 10 knots.

The bunkering tanker is intended for transportation of marine diesel fuel with hazard level 3 according to International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (light fuels with flash point of over 60°С) and density of у=0.82-0.86 t/m3 as well as for bunkering of vessels and collecting bilge/waste water. The vessel is fitted with equipment which can be used for collecting diesel fuel and oil from water surface in case of oil spills.

Okskaya Sudoverf (Shipyard “Oka”, Nizhny Novgorod region) was founded in 1907. Okskaya Sudoverf JSC specializes in building oil tankers and dry cargo vessels of medium capacity for mixed (sea and river) navigation, container carriers, special-purpose vessels, barges. The company is a member of VBTH, a shipping division of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding B.V. (UCL Holding). The Holding consolidates several railway operators, stevedoring and logistic companies.  The division also includes Volga Shipping Company, North-Western Shipping Company, V.F.Tanker as well as cruise assets.
