The crew of the Baltic Fleet research ship Admiral Vladimirsky is finishing preparations for the future cruise to the Antarctic, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The ship will depart in early November. It will pass the Baltic and North Seas, then will enter the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. They will also pass the Gibraltar, the Mediterranean Sea, the Suez Canal, the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles, and Madagascar.
The ship is to cover over 34 000 nautical miles and visit a number of foreign ports.
In the course of the expedition, the seamen will conduct complex oceanographic research, collect data for correction of navigational maps and other documents.
