Sea trials of ocean rescue vessel Igor Belousov are a success

Sea trials of ocean rescue vessel Igor Belousov, built for the Navy of Russia, were held in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic Sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.

The vessel arrived in St. Petersburg to prepare for the state tests, which are scheduled for the second half of November this year.

During sea trials, the diving bell was checked at great depths, and the parameters of all the constituent elements of the deep-sea diving complex GVK-450 were also checked in accordance with the algorithm of actions to rescue the submariners.

As part of the interdepartmental tests of on-board search-and-rescue equipment, unique deep-water search-and-rescue platform "Bester-1" was successfully tested, as well as long-distance tele-controlled underwater search-and-rescue platforms "Pantera Plus" dived to a maximum working depth.

From the vessel divers carried out deep divings to a depth of 100 metres within the mode of extended stay under the water with the simultaneous making underwater engineering works, which checked hydraulic systems, operation of technical tools and deep-diving equipment.

The crew and representatives of industry fulfilled in the sea a large volume of work on detailed verification of onboard hardware designed to assist emergency submarines, as well as multi-beam and side-scan sonars, radio navigation equipment. Specialists checked unique cargo-lifting means of the vessel.

The rescue vessel Igor Belousov is planned to make part of the Russian Navy by the end of 2015, after completion of state trials.

The Igor Belousov is project 21300S rescue vessel built for the Russian Navy at the "Admiralty Shipyards" in St. Petersburg.

She is intended to assist crews of submarines in distress, lying on the ground or being on the surface, to deliver air, electricity and life-saving equipment for submarines and surface ships.

In addition, the vessel can be used for searching and examining emergency sea objects, including in the strength of international maritime rescue formations.

Displacement of the vessel is equal to 5000 tons, length – to more than 100 m.
