UPM centralises its shippings from Rauma and Kotka to the port of Tilbury in the UK
UPM is further consolidating its European port network. From the beginning of next year all paper and plywood volumes from Kotka and Rauma to the UK will be shipped via the port of Tilbury. “The centralisation of volumes will improve the supply chain efficiency and bring greater service reliability to our customers,” says Jukka Hölsä from UPM Logistics. This change has no effect on shipping operations during this year, the company said in its press release.
UPM have made long term partnership agreements with both the Port of Tilbury (London Paper Terminal) and Transfennica. This new initiative will deepen the cooperation and strengthen the operational integration between all three parties. Cargo centralisation will enable Transfennica to re-start the service from Rauma to Tilbury, thereby enabling two weekly arrivals to Tilbury from the beginning of next year.
By employing the most modern fleet Transfennica will increase the cargo carrying capacity substantially and ensure the highest transport quality. This will enable the Port of Tilbury to maximize the operational efficiency in port operations and simultaneously respect UPM’s cargo care principles.
