Victor Olersky, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation - Head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency, congratulates Novoship on its 50th anniversary. IAA PortNews is pleased to publish the greetings:
Dear colleagues!
On behalf of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency and with all my heart I congratulate the team of Novoship and the veterans of the shipping company on a significant date – 50 years from Novorossiysk Shipping Company foundation!
Half-century history of Novorossiysk Shipping Company development has been marked with plenty of glorious milestones and landmark achievements. The shipping company establishment gave a strong impetus to the development of industry, transport and social infrastructure in the Krasnodar Region. A short time later Novorossiysk became known as a true “tanker capital” of our Motherland ensuring consistent budget revenues with the development of energy exports.
The development strategy of Novorossiysk Shipping Company has always been based on the principals of high quality shipping and high social responsibility. From the very beginning the company management recognized that it was all about the staff and made efforts to ensure a strong workforce capacity. Owing to the shipping company the city was growing and developing, comfortable accommodation was created for seafarers. To train high quality specialists for the fleet and shore services, Higher Engineering Maritime College was established in Novorossiysk through direct efforts of the shipping company. Today, Ushakov Maritime State University is among the country’s leading higher education institutions in the industry.
Quite soon the achievements of the company were appreciated on the state and international levels. In 1971, Novorossiysk Shipping Company was awarded with the Order of October Revolution. In 1981, the personnel of the company were presented with the Gold Mercury International Award.
Later on, when many of the companies in our country failed to revise their work principles to survive amid new economic conditions on the boundary of 90-ies, Novoship overcame the difficulties and ensured the growth of its business. This confirms once again that the company has always been steered by outstanding management able to inspire and knit their team closer together. Nowadays, this tradition of the company is held up.
As part of Sovcomflot Group, global leader in seaborne transportation of energy resources, Novoship has entered a new phase of development. Consolidation of assets of Russia’s two largest carriers provided a solid platform to meet the growing demand of Russian and foreign oil & gas companies for seaborne transportation of energy resources.
Recent years have not been easy for the entire freight market and its tanker segment is no exception. Nevertheless, Novoship and Sovcomflot Group have generally managed to maintain the positive momentum and implement a number of promising projects. All this was possible due to dedicated teamwork of highly-skilled marine and onshore professionals who comprise a unique team of like-minded colleagues.
On this big day, special words of gratitude are expressed for the veterans of Novoship who share their experience and skills with young personnel, whose whole life sets an example of selfless service and devotion to Russia.
Accept the kind and sincere greetings on the anniversary. I wish health, wellbeing and success to you and your families!
