On June 8, 2017, JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SPSP, a company of UCL Holding) took part in the 9th International Conference “Prospects for development of the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg” devoted to maritime business functioning in the modern economic environment, says PR Department of SPSP.
Commercial director of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” Alexey Vazhov spoke at the conference with a report on “Multi-purpose logistic platform – future of the port business”. In his speech Mr. Vazhov put a special emphasis on the fact that the traditional comprehension of the port as a mere transshipment site is currently losing its former significance.
“Today, in order to function successfully, the marine terminal should be a multi-purpose logistic platform integrated into transport, commodity and informational chains of products movement”, – he said.
The conference was also attended by the representatives of logistics and shipping business. In the course of the event the experts discussed possible ways of improvement of maritime transport infrastructure of Russia and the Baltic States, cooperation of ports with ship owners, as well as the changes to be made in the transport legislation and procedures.
