By 1 October 2017, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s IWWs totaled 7.532 mln t (-4.6%. year-on-year), Azov-Don Basin Administration told IAA PortNews.
The decrease should be mainly attributed to unfavorable depth caused by eastern winds between August 10 and August 22 and from September 23 up to this day.
In the reporting period, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 4,390 vessel movements including 2,160 downward and 2,230 upward (versus 4,745 movements in the same period of 2016: 2,340 downward and 2,405 upward).
In September 2017, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin dropped by 36.9% to 1.059 mln t. Transportation of heavy fuel oil fell by 39.2% to 265,000 t, sulphur – by 22.4% to 142,000 t. Transit cargo flow 38.1% to 847,000 t, internal turnover - by 31.4% to 212,000 t.
In September 2017, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 671 vessel movements including 310 downward and 361 upward (versus 943 in September 2016: 487 downward and 456 upward).
The total length of the waterways in the area of responsibility Azov-Don Basin Administration is 691.3 kilometers.
The Federal Azov-Don Basin Administration is responsible for management and control of inland waterways of the Don River Don from the lower access channel of Lock No 15 (Tsimlyansk Reservoir) to the village of Aksai (the 3121-km stretch of the Don), except for Nikolayevsky and the Konstantinovsky hydroengineering facilities, and the tributaries of the Don River, Seversky Donets (from Krasny farm to the mouth) and the Manych River (from the Novo-Manychskaya Dam to the mouth). The total length of the Azov-Don Basin Administration managed inland waterways reaches 691.3 km.
