In January-November 2017, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 13.36 mln t of cargo (+10.4%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 13.9% to 9.87 mln t including 219,100 t of paper (+2.1%), 1.43 mln t of cellulose (+3.2%), 1.82 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-2.6%) and 1.34 mln t of dry bulk cargo (72.3%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 1.1% to 3.49 mln t including 1 mln t of general cargo (+9.2%), 728,200 t of dry bulk cargo (+27.1%) and 994,400 t of liquid bulk cargo (-12.7%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 22.6% to 3.23 mln t, inland traffic climbed by 2.7% to 922,670 t.
Transshipment of containers climbed by 9.9% to 635,470 TEUs.
The number of calls was flat, year-on-year, at 2,350 calls.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2016, the port handled 13.4 mln t of cargo.
