The oceanographic research ship Admiral Vladimirsky, the Baltic Fleet, being on long-distance mission, has completed its passage through the Strait of Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean Sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
In course of the mission, the crew will perform a great deal of hydrographic and hydrometerological work.
The route of the vessel Admiral Vladimirsky lies through two oceans, five seas and equator. There are some stopovers planned in Cyprus, India, Mauritius, and Italy for rest and replenishing of supplies.
On December 15, the vessel Admiral Vladimirsky sailed from home station in Kronstadt for long-distance mission within the 2nd international expedition in the Indian Ocean under the auspices of the UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.
