Throughput of port Riga (Latvia) in January 2018 fell by 13.5% Y-o-Y to 2.8 mln t
In January 2018, the Freeport of Riga (Latvia) handled 2,770,600 t of cargo (-13.5%, year-on-year). As IAA PortNews was informed by the port authority, coal transshipment fell by 26.7% to 888,500 t. Transshipment of oil products dropped by 39.9% to 438,100 t, wood pellets – fell by 18.6% to 56,900 t, ore – surged by 62.7% to 51,400 t.
The Port’s container throughput grew by 0.9% to 36,546 TEUs.
Passenger turnover increased by 21.9% to 53,090 including 3,316 cruise passengers (+84.7%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters, maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2017, the port handled 33,674,700 t of cargo.
