On 26 August, the cruise ship Azamara Journey moored at the Port of Riga for the first time. Its owner and operator is Azamara Club Cruises, a part of the world's second largest cruise line operator Royal Caribbean Cruises based in Miami, USA.
As usual, expecting the first visit of the ship to the port, the captain of the ship Johannes Tysse and Freeport of Riga Deputy CEO for Port Development Matters Edgars Sūna exchanged emblems of the ship and the port. Within the framework of its Baltic cruise, Azamara Journey brought 682 tourists to Riga.
Azamara Journey is the 68th cruise ship to visit the Port of Riga this season. 22 more ships are expected by the end of the season in mid-October. In August, the port handled 22 cruise ships, making this August the most visited month for cruise ships to the Port of Riga.
