For the Northern Fleet, as a formation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the main direction in ensuring national security is the defence of the country, that is, the protection of the national interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic by military methods. This was stated by Commander of the Northern Fleet Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, speaking at the panel session Integrated Security in the Polar Region in the framework of the VIII International Forum Arctic: Today and the Future, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov also added that the Northern Fleet took part in ensuring the state, transport, economic and environmental security of the state within the designated lines of responsibility.
Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov noted that the Northern Fleet had everything necessary for the successful implementation of tasks to protect the Northern borders of the Russian Federation and was a reliable guarantor of national security in the Arctic Region.
